Design and build
First if you remember Nokia 7.1 October 2018 then this will be a good read. Navigate and learn about it on this website before you continue. Its (7.1) looks and the looks of 7.2 are very different. You’ll need half an eye to tell them apart. This time we see a dew drop notch as compared to the previous year’s bathtub (I hear this actually is the name).
The back has a fresh look with all camera lenses in a dark circle in the middle arranged in a squarely fashion with the LED flash completing the box. Below it is a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. An under display scanner would have increased the value here but it is what it is.
Once more facing you is its 6.3 inch display with corning gorilla glass 3 protection (this is the same glass build on the back panel) and a bottom bezel with Nokia branding. The phone itself is light weighing about 180 grams and is about 8.3 mm thick. The frames, inasmuch as the phone itself has a glass build, are made of plastic.
Display and camera
Display
Make the most of Nokia 7.2’s 6.3ches HDR 10 compliant display panel when you do your thing with your smartphone. I think it is a great choice for web browsing and watching videos. This IPS LCD capacitive touch screen covers and area of about 99.1 cm2 (~82.4% screen to body ratio), it has 1080 x 2280 pixels resolution, 19:1 ratio (~400 ppi density), Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection as already mentioned and with the Always on display feature you can quickly check your notifications without waking your phone – cool. I can report that outdoor visibility on Nokia 7.2 and viewing angles are things worth mentioning.
Nokia 7.2 Camera
Camera performance of Nokia 7.2 is by far the selling point of the phone. I mean, a 20MP front facing camera (with an LED flash) and a whooping 48MP main camera on the back. Come on now, beat that. Let us also not forget that video recording with the main camera is 4K and there is image stabilization on board.
Come on now. The other two lenses on the back are an 8MP ultra wide lens and a 5MP depth sensor. The ultra wide camera captures a wider field of view than the normal, also wide, camera lens whereas the depth sensor is responsible for fine tuning details that are not on the focused object. This improves the general image quality.
Platform
By platform I simply mean the performance stats of Nokia 7.2, I saw platform to sound as cool as the phone itself: and you must agree I do. Let us break it down. Android 9 (Pie) since all Nokia smartphones are in the Android One program.
On board is a Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 (14nm) chipset an octa core (4 x 2.2 GHz Kyro 260 & 4 x 1.8 GHz Kyro 260) CPU and an Adreno 512 GPU. I think in the midrange segment, Nokia 7.2 is among the models in the top bracket.
Storage and memory
The two models available can be told apart by their storage and memory. One 64GB 4GB RAM the other 128GB 6GB RAM and both can storages can be expanded using microSD, up to 512 GB.
Battery
Expect standard battery performance here with at most, at the very most one and a half day of mixed usage. You may get at most a day if you perform heavy process demanding tasks with your phone, like gaming for example.
