Design and build
Huawei P30 lite has these dimensions: 152.9 x 72.7 x 7.4 mm and weighs about 159 grams. A light smartphone it is because of the choice of material used to make it. I speak of its 3D curved glass back design crafted to for easy grip and one-handed use. Not forgetting the eye-catching choice of iridescent gradient finish. It is on the P30 lite we see a rear mounted fingerprint scanner to the SW of the triple camera on the top right corner (oriented vertically).
Huawei branding is also on the back as it has become Huawei’s norm to include it at the bottom right corner and also vertically inscribed. Facing you will always be its 6.15-inch display with a dew drop notch. There is a call speaker grill on at the very top of the face of P30 lite, right above the notch. There’s a noticeable chin at the bottom of this display panel.
Huawei P30 lite has a big and beautiful display panel to help you enjoy your interactions with brilliant color. It is a 6.15-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that boasts 84% screen-to-body ratio. What you will love about this dew drop notch is that it is less intrusive allowing you the most of your display pleasure.
Its resolution of 1080 x 2312 pixels (~415 ppi density) will be responsible for color reproduction and a warm display overall. Colors are very well distributed and balanced for this display with outdoor visibility handles with ease.
The same camera hardware has been used on P30 lite as on the P30 and P30 Plus in the 32MP front facing camera. So, the image processing you get for your selfies with the latter will be no different from the image quality on the lite. I descried selfie performance on the 30 and Plus as magical. It is an AI driven camera that pays attention to detail and preference.
Primary camera performance you will also enjoy with its 24 MP f/1.8 (wide), 8 MP, 13mm (ultrawide) and 2 MP f/2.4 depth sensor camera and lenses. Redefine phone photography with these triple lenses with stunning images shot with professional touch. Enjoy 1080p video recording with EIS with the primary camera.
Platform and memory
This is a HiSilicon Kirin 710 (12 nm) chipset powered smartphone. It runs on the latest software updates (as at time of review) Android 9.0 (Pie), EMUI 9.0. on board is an Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU.
Internal storage and memory
It has an internal storage of 128 GB and runs on 6 GB RAM. This memory is exactly why I insist that this is not a lesser flagship. With 6GB of RAM you will get top draw multitasking and tasking. Games for example are efficiently executed here. If you enjoy playing games then you will enjoy Huawei P30 lite’s performance for the same.
Fitted within is a non-removable Li-Po 3340 mAh battery capacity. It is a decent battery on paper and real time scoring over 90 hours of battery enduring tests. Fast battery charging 18W will come in handy every time you charge your phone. You will not have to wait long hours until full charge which is a plus for most, if not all.
